Arthouse (0)

February 1st, 2010, under Generative art.

Mocha ArtHouse is an experimental space that fuses the experience of art, culture and food, and exist as a platform for young artist and performers. ArtHouse brings new artist and audiences together in a manner that is accessible and inspirational.

The gallery was 21 december 2009. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see it in real life, because it was in India, and I live in the Netherlands (yes, almost other side of the world, 6.400km). It was great to work with those guys, they have showed some of my favorites and send me nice photo’s. Hope to have an gallery like this in Holland ever too (someone interested to do this?) :)

I like iGoogle. It’s very handy, because I can read my RSS-feeds everywhere I am. A while ago, I tried to personalize the header of iGoogle. I found the option to create your own skin, simply by uploading an image. I didn’t know the theme would be public, because I didn’t read the conditions. So, if anyone is interested.. Here is the iGoogle-theme:

Maps mostly looks interesting, especially when you realize thousands or even millions of people live at that place. Well this place doesn’t exist, it is not even a real map. But I like the map-feeling it has. Generated with actionscript.

Feeling creative. I used mousegestures to create nice movements and shapes. It looks a little bit crazy but it has really great details.

Sometimes I don’t know what to think of generative art. I don’t know if these images I created could be called (or what ‘they’ called) art, or if they are just some other renders. Sometimes it feels nothing more than lines, colors. Some people who see it really love it, but at some moments I don’t know how to think about it.

But take a look at it, they have so many details (see the big sizes if you have a flickr account). I cannot count the lines, but can have a endless watch to see if there’s a message in it. A secret sign or something else I didn’t coded. How can such useless lines be that interesting? I don’t get it..

A lot of people ask me how to create this images. If you don’t want to learn to code, just freak out with photoshop. First, when you really want to this: learn a coding-language, like actionscript. Download a nice actionscript-editor, like FlashDevelop. This makes coding more easily & comfortable. You also could learn processing. I don’t know a lot about it, but I’ve seen wonderful things created with it.
